JOSEPHINE PARKER
Principal
Josie founded Capture Dance Academy in 2022 as part of the next step in her career within the dance industry. Since a young age she had her heart set on following in the footsteps of her own dance teacher and now one of Capture’s patrons, Mrs Avril Gorman.
Josie has trained in a variety of dance styles including Ballet, Tap, Modern, Jazz, varying contemporary techniques, street/commercial dance and heels. In 2019 she graduated from Canterbury Christ Church University earning a BA degree in Dance Education with First Class Honours and the award for best academic work. Supporting qualifications include the University of the Arts London (UAL) Diploma in Performing and Production Arts, as well as all graded examinations is RAD Ballet. She has also performed in numerous shows across the country and hopes further her performance experiences alongside running Cature Dance Academy.
The ethos of the company is a reflection of Josie’s own views. She hopes it will become a wholesome, supportive and safe environment for likeminded individuals… those that share a passion for dance. Not only do we aim to mould technically strong dancers but also, ones that recognise their own strengths and the natural agency they have over the movement of their own bodies. We encourage individuals to delve into their creative side and embrace dance as an art form and mode of self-expression.
Josie is dedicated in supporting all those within our community and creating a positive and up-lifting space where all feel empowered and able to achieve their best.
